Just tightening up radius arms with lowering brackets; the axle was obviously narrowed when bowed in 1960s. The radius arms want to kink out at one end so the brackets do not hang straight down, which suggests that they want the geometry they had with the standard axle, quite rightly!
What should I do?

thanks - that makes total sense.
Although I wondered about parts making contact, like the brake levers which are presently long.
