Strange charging symptoms
#11
Bug
No third brush on this it's a big seven so it's got a VERY modern state of the art two brush set up haha!

In all seriousness though it's just a Lucas c45

The regulator is a new unit one of the 9 terminal Lucas jobs.

Sorry. I thought it was the earlier setup. If it is a two brush system, then the voltage regulator will charge initially at about 15/20 amps for a short while after startup and then settle down to a trickle charge.you will have to wait for a few minutes for this to happen, though. The starter takes such a high current that received wisdom suggests that, to replace the lost charge in the battery, the dynamo will need to charge at 'full chat' for about 5 mins to replace it.

On my RP saloon, I usually keep it on the full charge setting for ten mins after a cold startup and five mins for any other startup during the day, switching to half charge thereafter.
