Tom Pellow Championship
#1
Tom Pellow was a well known and highly respected VSCC member and Inter-Reg competitor and organiser.. He had a long rallying history, since his move from Cheshire to Leominster with Austin Sevens before a final move to a Riley.  It is proposed to celebrate and recognise the contributions he made by establishing a championship in his name.

This would be for navigation rally events in Wales and the West Midlands, organised by VSCC and Inter-Reg. These are basically Batho Trophy, Humber Register Rally and Welsh Rally/Rali Gwymraeg  and in 2020 will include Rali Eyri.  For this opening year, with the Measham  Rally based in Leominster and the Cheshire Night Rally  included, there will be six events,   a spectacular start to a championship of which Tom would be most proud.

The  championship will  be open to pre-war cars of any engine size, wheelbase, number of seats and indeed of either three or four wheels, and Sevens of every shape, size and degree of originality will of course be most welcome. Results of competitive classes would be combined to comprise the entries, places based on  scores for trophy/expert/novice or classes of any other name but excluding non-competitive tour cars. Points awarded on each event would be added to indicate entrants'  final position at the end of the season. To encourage organisers, officials etc, for any rally at which they volunteered, points would be awarded as an average of points scored on events in which they competed. This is the initial proposal, more and no doubt better suggestions  will be most welcome.

This idea was discussed in the Norman Aisle of Leominster Priory after the celebration of the lives of Bridget and Tom Pellow, a very large service complete with choir singing Mozart and attended by a significant number of sporting competitors, and forum contributors. It was a most fitting occasion on which to consider how the motor sporting world can recognise and remember him for many years to come.
