Just before Christmas I took my block into have it bored from 20 thou to 30 thou as I needed to replace the pistons to get rid of the little end knock and I managed to get some new old stock 30 thou pistons.
I have spoken this morning to the engine reconditioned who tell me that the block hasn’t cleaned up at 30 thou - apparently the borer (as the engineer put it) didn’t touch the topic the bore. He recommends. Either 40 thou pistons or another block that isn’t out to 30 thou already.
Has anyone got such a lock that they would be prepared to part with, or alternatively a set of decent 40 thou pistons?

Depends what it'll clean to.
If you buy some of Tony Betts' pistons they are in metric sizes, so 56.75 is 34 thou over, and 57.00 is 44 thou over.
I'd sell the +30 pistons and buy new ones or take daveg up on his offer

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen. Dave got, I have pm’d you regarding your offer.
Charles, I have rung Tony and left a message for him regarding a set of pistons.
We shall see what happens.

If I was doing another block I would go for a set of Tony Betts slipper pistons.
The engine I'm using now has Honda pistons but I'm not altogether happy with it.
The original engine for the car is now back together with new rear main bearing and much better timing gears from Tony Leslie.
Probably the best solution. Should only take a day to do.
