I plan to go, on a walk in basis (we’re staying locally and my wife will drop me off). Ticket page indicates an arrival time must be selected, earliest being 10am. What time is the rally open please and is it possible to walk in earlier do you know?

Hi Peter. On the Sunday the gate to the rally field is bound to be manned from 8am. You can buy a ticket there. Don't buy from the museum entrance!

Hi Peter,
There are people camping on site from Friday onwards. The gates are locked overnight - sorry don't recall the exact times but something like 9pm to 9am - give or take a half-hour. If you intend to buy a ticket on arrival you'd have to wait for the ticket office to open which is 10am I think; but with a ticket bought in advance I imagine you could walk in earlier - there's a little cabin on the gate to the rally field and those who man it are generally quite amenable.
Ah I see Nick has answered while I was typing - listen to him!
