Rear Axel - Refurb

Hi All, as I have mentioned on other threads - Dad and I are refurbing a rear axle for the Ruby. its actually in beautiful condition (on the inside) apart from where the foam washers have allowed oil to contaminate the brakes. 

My new question is how do you recommend we seal the dif case? i have a new gasket, but do i smear with grease and bolt up, of use an instant gasket compound?

I tend to use "Boss White" and the paper gasket - this is also good for the water manifolds etc - its non setting and takes up minor imperfections
