SU Carb on a chummy manifold
#21
The inlet and carb faces were parallel.I used an 1 1/8" but don't know what it was originally fitted to.I did grind out the ports inside as much as possible before welding on the SU flange.
I remember the updraught manifold is quite a small bore especially the vertical bit. That's why I wouldn't go the 90 degree adapter way.
The box saloon was good for a genuine 60 on the flat, throttle tempered by the original 1 5/16" crank.
Just remembered I'd found an incomplete pair of early sprite/midget twin carbs which the adapter was cut from.

Dave,

Maybe you should cast some up, I'm sure there would be a market for those that want a gravity fed SU.
Cheers
