Out and about. The travels of our 1938 Austin7

80 year old Austin seven was a hit at our school Fete car show.  One of my daughters (9 year old) took on the job of showing people the restoration booklet and telling them about the history of the car.   She also let selected kids sit in it as well.

Before the crowds arrived I let her drive it backwards and forwards to line it up. Her first time using a clutch and only stalled once.

Great pictures! The Fiat 1500 (1300?) must be even rarer than the Seven!

Here I will compile photos and videos of the Austin 7 out in the wilderness as opposed to tucked up safely in the garage with bits missing.

The first video is our most recent trip and the longest since restoration. 80 miles.  I know some of you may laugh but it was a big adventure for me and my daughters.

What a splendid machine, is it a Holden Sports Tourer? 
Looks terribly Morris 8 Tourer from the rear, shame we didn't have these over here in the UK?

It is like a Morris 8.  The back has a steeper slope than the tourers here and it was marketed as a dual purpose roadster.   (Originally only had a bench seat but I wanted to squeeze a little back seat in for my kids before they got too big). 

I do not have any proof that it is a Holden body but have seen a very similar Big 7 which was a Holden Body

A lovely car. When you are out in what you call the wilderness do you have a period canvas water bag to hang on the front.
