The weather gods were once again unkind to us, even so we managed to muster 6 Austin sevens and three moderns, it would have been 7 Austins but sadly Tony Sparks car packed a sad and would not start, so he bravely went as Bernie's passenger. Brave because Bernie became our first casualty his Box saloon loosing a rear wheel at Shakespeare regional park, fortunately help was at hand and the wheel reattached so Bernie and Tony made it back home!

Following morning tea by the beach at Shakespeare regional park on the East coast, the run's survivors departed on a myriad of back roads to reach our West coast destination and the black sands of Bethel's Beach. Halfway Jon Ellis in his Special decided he was wet enough so headed for home, Glen Ried's PD developed a terminal problem diagnosed as a burnt valve just outside Bethel's, so that left just Jacqui Madelin in her Ruby, Richard Bampton in the Box and yours truly in the Nippy that arrived at Bethel's in our sevens, Glen had by now been rescued by Brendan Lamain who was in a modern.

After refreshments we all headed back to Albany and 12 of us had a pleasant evening meal in the Pub where run organiser Richard explained the rather complicated and somewhat dubious points scoring system whereby we all won, or at least none of us lost!

Brilliant stuff Ian, great to get a taste of Austin 7 life in NZ. Beautiful scenes, and beautiful cars.
