At the front there seems to be a shadow of something of a support. As to the rest of the guard the photo seems to show no visible means of support. Is it hanging on to the exhaust?

It's a report of a talk given by Ronald Harker to the Central London Austin Seven group in 1982. From the article; "In the 'twenties Ronald and Edmund Harker were apprentices at Rolls-Royce in Derby. Their father promised them a car if they would abstain from smoking and motor-cycling until they were 21. So, in due course, they acquired one of the new supercharged Austin Sevens (a Super Sports), having negotiated a 30% discount through the Rolls-Royce Purchasing Department." Unfortunately no dates are quoted. There were 3 photos of the Super Sports in the album (before it was heavily modified). "At Shelsley with light-weight body" Photos from the Harker Collection |
