I have been trying to help a chap with a starter motor problem ( Later Type ) which looks like a very worn commutator which has been cleaned up a few times in the past.
I also have three late starter motors with really bad commutators one of them has had so much removed the ends are lifting up.
The windings seem fine in all cases.
The big Question is does anyone know of a source of replacement commutators or a company that can replace them ??
Dynamos also suffer from the same complaint.
I have done a bit of research and found that there are a couple of companies in India that will make one to pattern But I would need to know the original diameter of a brand new Austin Starter Motor commutator to go down this avenue any further.
I know of companies in the UK that do rewinds.
If Vince Leek sees this perhaps he could have some useful input.
