I do enjoy finding out about things I never knew - such as the fact that you cannot hum when your nose is pinched shut.*

Today, a pal of mine emailed to ask if I have ever used 'Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure'.

Thinking this to be the start of some vulgar wind up, I googled it. Witchcraft!

I shall be giving this a go on the glass seals of my MGA Coupe which has had 'invisible' leaks for ages. I pass it on for those who might find it useful.

Hi Nick

I’ve used this to seal caravan windows (rubber against fibreglass).  Worked very well.  Although if the leak is large you will loose a lot of fluid and need to reapply several times.  Best used when the leak is just a weep rather than a flood  .

If your crack is large it will just drain out, it works by capillary action and sets in a thin film.
I have used it since the 1980s mostly on racing yachts, but also on the house and cars.
I have probably got a bottle stashed on my boat as well as one in the garage.

  It is basically an aliphatic glue and widely available.

You Try it instead of oil and it might seal up all those annoying leaks, close up big end clearance and rebuild the engine from the inside, I suspect a bit of fine well seasoned english oak sawdust might help in extreme cases.


Please let us all know your results !!!!!! LOL.

( Beware Not All Advise Given Is Sensible, I would say take with a pinch of Salt, I prefer Sawdust Myself )

I used it on the Cup's windscreen - seemed to work well.
