AEW boot latch
#1
Hi

I have managed to misplace my boot lid latch. It is a very simple rotating tongue that locates into a plate in the boot lid opening. The tongue is rotated into the locked/open positions by using a simple T shaped key.

What do A7 saloons, opals, etc. use?

I have attached a photo of an early mini boot lid latch which I cannibalize.

I assume that any suitable A7 component would be rare anyway?

Regards Peter

Budget locks are common ironmongers' stock; try your local hardware store, if you have one!

Vintage Car Parts (formally Paul Beck) stock something similar. The links below show the face fix budget lock dimensions and the full range of locks stocked.

Hi Mike and Jeff

thanks for getting back to me - I will take a look at your suggestions. I hope to go to the centenary rally next year...you are welcome to come and take a look at the solution!

My car registration is AML807 (I guess I will be in a group something like coach built not Gordon England).

Regards Peter
