Brilliant image, and deeply sentimental as if there is any form of Lakeland Trial this year it will be pretty unrecognisable. Forestry Commision have banned events comprising more than 30 people. Is that a Land Crab passing the stalwart trialists?

The owner is slumped on the barrier, crying. Still, no real problem - it was only the third-motion pinion-retaining cross lug on the intermediate triple-selector bracket that had broken the inner-face operating rod. We stole a couple of bolts and a short strengthing strip from the Armco barrier and took them to the farmhouse in the background. An old, hand-crank grinding wheel did a neat of converting them to the required part. They are still in place, apparently.
