Nobody know what the inverted Y in a circle stamped onto some dynamos means?

Hi Dave
I have a DK4 distributor bought at Beaulieu many years ago. It had no pinion fitted, and no pin hole drilled for one, so I believe it was a new old stock Lucas "Service Replacement". It carries the usual aluminium data plate, with silver characters on a black background. On this plate is a silver Y (right way up) inside a silver circle about 3/16 inch in diameter. So my guess is that the circled Y designates a service replacement, as distinct from something supplied direct to a vehicle manufacturer. Unless anyone knows different ? |
