Clutch plates
#21
Hi,
Your clutch is the correct item for the Type 65
It is neither newton bennett or borg and beck.
It is the earlier type so order the linings for the car year.
It is no problem to drill a second set of holes between the loose rivets and put in new rivets.
Make sure that there are no splits near the existing rivet hole in the centre plate.
Ball Pein hammer and dolly, sharp drill and rivets needed.
It will be worth changing the linings for new ones if they are oily, when you fit new linings the rivets will not be much more than 1 mm from the surface level.

Thanks all. I am taking the clutch and the con rods to Nick Turley's tomorrow, so will be able to decide where to go from here after consulting with him.

The big end caps had been interchanged at the last rebuild (rod 2 with cap 3 and rod 3 with cap 2) and one big end bolt had been torqued up with the head 180° out, so my decision to strip and rebuild seems to have been sensible.
