Hi Austineers,
I have received instruction from my good lady that I should clear out the spares my dad has collected over the years.
Being a novice and not wanting to bother my dad too much I am hoping that you can help me work out how to list these 2 items, starting with the basics, a crank case and a block.
What details would I need to give on each of these and what should my target prices be please?
I have photographed a bore measurement for the block (mm).

Hi
It's an Austin Seven cast iron block and a 3 bearing (1936 to 1939) type alloy crankcase.
The standard bore is 2.2 inches (55.88 mm). If I read your micrometer correctly it is saying 57.02 mm which is 2.245 inches, so it has been rebored to about +40 Thou.
The photos as they stand would be a good basis for an advert, but if you could add the engine number (e.g. M28****) that would be useful

I wouldn't set your price expectations too high.
Blocks are always a gamble, and invariably take a lot of effort to get into useable condition. There are pitfalls for the unwary - stripped threads, perforated bores, cracks etc. - so personally I prefer to see them up close before parting with cash.
The crankcase has been heavily repaired at the rear - looks like a flywheel let go? - and that will put a lot of people off.

Continuing this thread. I was rummaging around for parts to go on one of the spare engines. and found I have collected a lot of broken aluminium castings. And started to wonder if there is any point to retaining them, I guess unless they were to be used for recasting, which i expect is the reason they were kept so many years ago.
What is the forums thoughts on this. I have , I think 3 x dymamo to engine casting that are broken in some way and 2 lower fan belt pulleys with damaged edges.. would anyone use these? given that the seven workshop has shiney new ones for £22.50?
