Morning "oh knowledgable ones",
I'm re-doing the rooflining in the Ruby, (mk2) I got a precut kit from a chap on ebay, which is pretty good - I'm not so good at the panel covering , but that my issue,
I confidently covered all the pannels I have , but once i fitted the main section to the roof, i realised the rear quarter panels are wrong and way too small. I recall my dad saying he had no information on this when he and my mum did the linning 50 plus years ago, so they made some up..
anyway my question is does anyone here have details, dimension , drwaings of what these pannels should be please?
Thanks as always
Steve

Although not Ruby, the drawings on the Archive web site that relate to a Box Saloon, may give some guidance. I recently did the roof lining on my Box and from that (albeit, limited) experience, I would suggest that you acquire some more matching material (probably from your chap on Ebay to ensure a match) and be generous and cut it to fit. Even with the kit I had (from a marque trim expert) those panels needed quite a bit of 'fettling' to make them fit well..
Not a great deal of help, I suspect, but encouragement that it perhaps isn;t quite as difficult as you may imagine...

Do a couple of trials using any old fabric - an old sheet, for example.
That will teach you a lot, before cutting into the real stuff.
If the "original" fabric is stretchy, try a local shop for a metre of something similar.

Stephen, if you send me your email address I can send you the same document I sent Tiger which gives a fairly comprehensive explanation of many aspects of old car upholstery, door cards and pockets, seating etc and includes head lining.
I have a ‘36 ARQ Ruby which I fully re-upholstered and can provide pics of my linings if so required.
Cheers Denis S
Just having read your post again Stephen, so further explanation is needed.
I had no interior on Ruby whatsoever, no headlining or interior woodwork of any kind.
Having searched long and hard I located a Ruby with the headlining missing and so took numerous photos of all the interior woodwork and winged it and made my own.
As for the headlining I followed the paper I am proposing to send you and made my own patterns out of an old sheet and temporarily fitted these in place to see how they worked before cutting the real lining material.
Cheers again
Denis S
