Smokers Hatch
#1
I am helping a pal who is restoring an MG M Type Sportsman Coupe. Pretty little thing. This is a fixed head body with a Smoker's Hatch. Trouble is, from what little he has left of the bodywork, a Smoker's Hatch is missing. he asks, very kindly, if his compatriots in the Austin 7 world might be able to help, either with some dimension, photos or, even better, if someone has the remains that they would be willing to sell so he could use it or have it as a pattern to make new.

Can any kind person help?

Edit even before I post to say I have just found a thread on the old forum with some details, but any further offers of help would be welcome...

There were two types fitted to Sevens. Early ones were pressed steel, later ones (post 36?) were cast alloy. I have a car with the later one fitted. I'm happy to take whatever measurements you need, though making a replica would be quite involved I suspect.

Larger Austins (and other makes) had much bigger hatches and these seem more common. I have no idea what the MG would have had.

Just out of curiosity was it the Sportsman that sometimes had a large glass sliding sunroof?
