Just a quick query. I have just had my dynamo apart to fit new brushes, following a spate of intermittent charging. If I need to repolarise the field coils, do I just ‘flash’ the dynamo F terminal with a lead attached to the positive side of the battery (my car in negative earth)?

I believe that is the method. I've done it previously when changing over from positive earth to negative earth. Just "spark" the wire 2 or 3 times on the positive battery terminal if your car is negative earth. It should be done every time you replace the battery or generator, to be honest, just to make sure that nothing is going to burn out.
Cheers, Geoffrey

Thanks Falcott. I thought I was right, but just needed reassurance. The dynamo is now back to full working order.
