Engine rear main bearing oil thrower
#1
I wondered how people prepare their crank rear oil thrower when rebuilding en engine .
I am just reassembling my two bearing   1.5" spit & hope  pheonix cranked engine and i have in the past used an indentation technique to distort the inner face of the washer thereby causing it to get pinched by the flywheel and inner bearing gap closing .
It doesnt get a mention in the manual and i have on occaision heard a noise that would be a light whispy sound from the approximate area.
Ive got the clearance with the flywheel lapped on to pinch this without bottoming the flywheel .
Just wondering what the best advice is

Thanks

Most of the throwers I have bought in recent times already have a "crumple zone" built in. As you say, the trick is to crush the dimples up a bit without bottoming out on the washer face.
