As there has been no reply, i will put in my two bobs worth.
Is there a diference in the height from the base to the driving shaft. Have seen this on Bosch Magys. Peter

Edit Reason: Corrected measurement A4R
)
Measured from the base to the shaft centre:
BLIC A4R: 1.1/2” (approx 38 mm) BLIC N4R: 1.1/2” (approx 38 mm) Others I have measured are: BLIC G4R: 1.3/4” (approx 44.5mm) Bosch/BLIC ZA4: 1.1/2” (approx 38 mm)

As far as I know all? magnetos have a centre height (base to armature axis) of either 45 or 38mm. That measurement may not be exact but it’s easy to do with a ruler. An Austin seven mag will have a centre height of 38 mm.

Ditto
ML RF4 - 38mm ML RG4 - 45mm The BESA standards for magneto sizes are listed in this useful and inexpensive book https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Automobile-El...ect=mobile Charles

I now have to hand a BLIC catalogue from the 20's
It shows the drive centre height as 38 mm on an A4. Like the one on my car. |
