Original Spring by Wm E Cary Ltd
#1
Just looking at an original spare Ruby front spring I have here.  It says "Wm E Cary Ltd, Jul 1935, Manchester, 1A-5134"

Looking up Wm E Cary Ltd, their address was 'Red Bank over the River Irk' and this is a picture taken of the factory in 1936:

I imagine various companies supplied springs to Austin at this time?

The original sports springs that I have seen are stamped 'R Berry & Son, Smethwick'

The part number is 9C141 and the 33 is presumably the year.

The ones on the original Ulster are Smethwick but 9C142, registered 1932.

The front spring is 9C141 and the rear springs are 9C142 IIRC.  They are of course inter-leaved with zinc.
