Make sure the oil thrower is in place in front of the timing gear.
I soak the felt seals in engine oil for a few days before use. ( my father used to keep a set of felt seals in a jam jar full of oil )
The fan belt pulley does not have to be very tight I just nip it up a bit as the alloy will just stretch if overtightened.
The fan belt only has to turn the fan so does not need to be very tight.
I only tighten the belt to the point that the belt will slip if I turn the fan with one finger.
