Q - best way to remove cam gear?
#21
made up a bit of 3x1 about 6" with a rough hole through it... and put that over the cam bush and then seated it across the jaws of the metal vice (with the cam gear sitting on the wood). As advised, it came off with the first sharp clout of the hammer on a bit of metal over the nut.
Thanks all.

I took the cam gear off our car last week with the engine in situ. As I always have used the 3-leg puller. Need to take out the top bolt hold the front main bearings.
Just do it up firmly then hit the puller bolt firmly and off it comes.
With any puller it is hitting the bolt that does the job. Never try to pull it of using just the bolt.
Cleared the oil feed to the front bearing & re-assembled.
No problem.
