Another noise
#1
My big seven has recently been running spot on, almost spritely... If you can call a small pre war car that.

Anyway, I've noticed a small knocking noise, almost like rod knock yet the shells and crank were checked less than three hundred miles ago when major work was carried out. And the knocking makes no difference weather at hot or cold just at a specific rpm range say 1500-2000, no worse on declaration, climbing a hill or when revved in neutral.

Although it is difficult to diagnose funny noises without actually hearing them, given the work you have recently done, I would check the ignition timing first, to make sure it’s not too advanced.

And, yes, small prewar cars can be spritely, although I prefer to describe my own car as going enthusiastically given it’s 12 hp rather than your 20.
