How good that these old adverts used cars with real registrations, unlike the stupid ones they tend to show on car ads today.

I suppose with petrol rationing they were keen to extract maximium thrills from the car hence satnding on seat. Despite more here being very dependant on cars, it seems rationing here was more severe than UK. On line suggests only 1 gal a month and I recall my father saying it was just one or two. To go on his honeymoon friends donated petrol. Earlier when still in civilian employemnt as a plumber he added a lot of white spirit.
