1923 sports rad surround
#1
Sorry but more help needed.

I bought this rad surround some time ago, long enough I can't remember were it came from.

Problem is what is it off.

It has seriously professional extension to the base. It could have been done at Austin's workshop.

And it is drilled for a 1923 choke pull.

More pics to come.

Thanks tony.

There is wear on the surround to suggest it is original.

And enough corrosion to show its age.

Didn't the original rad shells have a keyhole for the choke? I am sure I remember one like that but it was a long time ago and my brain is fading a bit!

Hi Robert,

You are probably right.

The hole looks a bit big as well.

I guess there could be other reasons for it.

Thanks tony.

I remember seeing this before and thinking that it might be from a stationary engine or fire pump etc?

Hi R,

That's interesting.

Ard there any pictures of this early type of pump or stationary engine.

I thought the plate under the cowl  may have held a front  valence.

Thanks tony.
