The consensus is that it would be dangerous in today's traffic and that does make a lot of sense.
As an alternative idea how about a mass rally in the Longbridge area to celebrate the centenary. Perhaps the NEC could oblige.
The location is roughly central to the UK. 
Just throwing ideas into the pot.

The A7CA is organising a rally at the Fire Sevice College near Moreton-in Marsh. They are planning a big event, and there is decent budget hotel type accommodation on site.

There is also a Caravan and Motorhome Club site in Moreton in Marsh for those who trailer their cars behind the Winnebago!
I rather like the idea of a leisurely run down the Fosse Way in one of the Austins.

There will be a camping option at the Centenary Event as well. It is hoped that a more formal announcement can be made concerning the event in the near future...
