Whilst searching for a die for the OP (success); I find that the wheel bearing ID is larger in the  last of the axle housings (the ones with tapered torque tube), consequently a die that would be required for that is larger.   cheers  Russell

Yes, those late series HD rear axles are thin on the ground. They were popular when I was racing Sevens. I recall the outer hub being longer too for the upgraded axle and keyway. Two of my A7’s run the 37 girling bolt on brake backing plates type Axle and they run the same bearing / hub nut as any of my early narrow chassis cars.

The New Tap and Die arrived today from Tracy tools, Worked a treat. I expanded the die so it only took the lightest  cut of the original thread while re cutting the damaged lead. Should of bought one of these years ago, worth every penny. Both supplied tap and dies were marked 1-1/4" B.S. Con.
