Does anyone have a foolproof way of sealing the cap on the oil filler tube. The crankcase joint is ok and the cap is relatively new but I can't seem to get a situation where it is sufficiently tight against the tube to stop it leaking. Any suggestions?

At present I am a great fan of making sealing things out of sheet silicone rubber.
My current engine has all gaskets and fibre washers, with the exception of the head, exhaust and inlet gaskets and carb washers, made from the stuff as an experiment.
So I would at least try an additional ring of the stuff inside the cap, again in the spirit of research.
I can send you a little bit if you like?
