Car No and Chassis No plates - Adrian Payne - 16-12-2024 Hello Does anyone know the size and fontĀ of the number and letter stamps used to originally stamp these plates. The modern ones look a bit new. Has anyone managed to purchase a set of period stamps? Many thanks. Adrian. RE: Car No and Chassis No plates - Belinni - 17-12-2024 Not sure of the size off hand, but I use PRYOR punches - not cheap, but great kit and better looking fonts than the Chinese stuff RE: Car No and Chassis No plates - MatthewMyerscough - 17-12-2024 Hi Adrian Another name to throw into the mix is "Arnold" Birmingham. I bought some which I believe date from the 1920's to re-create the part number stamp on a Nippy drop link. Its not quite the same as what you are after but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Austin used Arnold stamps. I'm happy with the result, I think it is a very close match for the original in my case. Thanks Matthew |
