LED headlight bulbs - andrew34ruby - 04-12-2024

I need to put LED headlight bulbs in my seven; spending time in stationary traffic soon drains the battery.

The bulbholders and reflectors are the 1950s type BPF, and I'm running 12 volt.

Please can anyone recommend what you have purchased recently? I'm not looking for brilliant beam to see by, but in modern traffic it's frightening to drive on sidelights.

On t'internet there are so many unknowns from £7 each to £60.

I found this helpful and went for the more expensive “bulls eye” option and very pleased with them

I use these on my Ruby's 6v system - says they will cope with up to 24v:

Here's a comparison of the "bulls eye" lights      vs 24 watt quartz halogen lights      .

My advice would be to speak with Pete at DynamoRegulatorConversions;

I have used his advice and products to fit LED lamps to a friend's Light 12/4 (and he also rebuilt the dynamo and converted the regulator using his solid state system). I have no connection other than being a very satisfied repeat customer.

Which "bulls eye" bulbs are these please Dave? I've seen some at £56 for 2 bulbs and others at £26 for 2 bulbs. None bulls eye are from £10 for 2 bulbs.

I'm mainly wanting them for in town so other people can see me.

Yes I'm sure the expensive ones are good, but how bad are the cheaper ones? Anybody know?

Double Dipper PRO LED Dipping Headlamp bulbs as supplied by Dynamo Regulator Conversions £74.4 for two including postage.

The beauty about the 'Bulls eye' variety of bulbs is they have their own, 'built in' reflector set up and don't rely on the reflector in the headlamp

Which gives an excellent beam unlike a lot of LEDs which give loads of light and no beam
