Engine mounts - timbigden@icloud.com - 19-11-2024 The engine on my 33 PD was solid mounted, bolted to chassis. As crankcase was damaged I rebuilt with a more modern rubber mounted crankcase. I’ve just put engine back in the car but the two front mountings in chassis seem to a different thread to the new studs and rubbers I bought. Also the large rubber bottom ring rests on hex section of the stud this dosnt seem right? Any words of wisdom appreciated - TIA RE: Engine mounts - Robert Leigh - 19-11-2024 I can't explain the different threads, but the rubbers won't suffer much by resting on the hexagons. RE: Engine mounts - Ian Williams - 20-11-2024 There was once a steel ring/washer around the hex nut, most of the time these have been lost at some point in the distant past and as Robert mentions the rubbers just compress over them. I find the newly supplied rubber bolt sleeves are a bit of a compromise in size and consequently a difficult fit, silicon grease helps here. The studs should be 3/8" diameter. |
