Chummy exhaust - PeterN - 06-11-2024

My car is a 1930 model AE fitted with a later 1934/35 engine.
The  manifold/exhaust flange connection is a little bit further forward for this later engine than for the correct 1930 engine, hence the standard exhaust pipe needs to be lengthened a little. (as mine has been rather messily)
My question is: Is the exhaust pipe for the longer wheelbase cars the same profile as that for the short wheelbase ones except for the pipe length and could it be modified (with a hacksaw) to the correct length.

No, the exhaust front pipe for a 3 speed engine is different, not only in length but profile as well. The 3 speed cars were fitted with the earlier exhaust manifold and the first part of the pipe descends vertically from the manifold further before turning backwards more sharply. The later pipe can be bodged to an earlier engine but I doubt that the early pipe can be so easily fitted to a late engine, although in the 1950's, anything was possible!
