Cover missing? - iandecjak - 26-09-2024 Finally have engine/gearbox back in and am not sure if I am missing a part? There is a large hole on bottom of gearbox (4 speed/sync) forward of the drain plug and I am at a loss as to why there isnt a cover of some sort? It has parallel sides to match the casting, and a part of it is domed, to fit in the hole you can see but all it does is either stop muck going up and into the bell housing or allows crud & stuff to fall out when it is removed. It's not meant to seal perfectly (well mine isn't anyway) Here's what it should look like: Don't know where you might get one but it should be easy to make one out of some brass sheet if you're any good at metal bashing. RE: Cover missing? - Ian Williams - 26-09-2024 Its one of those non vital components that you don't really need, especially on a lightly used car on modern roads. So if you cant find one I would not worry too much. That said they do turn up and I would expect Tony Leslie and Tony Betts both have them on the shelf. RE: Cover missing? - Hugh Barnes - 25-10-2024 I have one spare if this is still needed. Send me a PM if you are still looking... |
