A "Potter" precision bench lathe - almost certainly brought over during WW2. It's the usual 'house clearance' sale, open to offers and so could be a bargain if you're near Salisbury

Yes, Duncan, all these high-precision lathes were a delight. Starking with Stark in 1862, so many versions were made right into the 1950s - though even today Schaublin, in Switzerland, will sell you one (if you can remortgage the house).
