I know the pinion shafts are different because of the shoulder. Can anyone please confirm whether the axle casing is the same on the mark 1 and mark 2 ruby axle (other than the brake backplates)...
Will a mark 2 torque tube bolt into the mark 1 axle without modification?

Yes, apart from the late heavy axle (1938/9).
