Rear outer hub Thread type? - Raleigh - 05-02-2024 I am trying to confirm the thread type on the A7 rear axle outer hub (Hub puller Thread) . I measure the thread pitch at 16 Tpi with my gauges and the Dia of the thread at approx 1.366" which would make it 1-3/8". The tpi indicates it is not BSW or BSF? The Question to the wise is ,which thread type is used? RE: Rear outer hub Thread type? - Howard Wright - 05-02-2024 Hi Raleigh It’s a special 1 3/8 16tpi. See this web site for a mine of very useful info https://www.austin7.org/Data%20Pages/Tech%20Data/ David Cochrane sells a die of this size to restore threads. It’s a big old thread so necessarily expensive. Cheers Howard RE: Rear outer hub Thread type? - Raleigh - 05-02-2024 Thanks Howard, That's exactly the information I required. Regards, Raleigh. RE: Rear outer hub Thread type? - John Mason - 05-02-2024 On my 1935 Ruby I cleaned the threads up enough to screw on a hub puller by careful use of a 16 tpi thread file. Also as a last resort if the thread is so bad that the puller pulls off the thread when trying to remove the hub hold the puller in place with three or four tacks of weld which can be ground off once removed.
