Interesting little film - MartinH - 30-10-2023 Sadly not about Sevens but an interesting advert from the 1920s....well before the trade descriptions act! https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-trojan-car-advert-1926-online RE: Interesting little film - Tony Griffiths - 31-10-2023 (30-10-2023, 10:41 PM)MartinH Wrote: Sadly not about Sevens but an interesting advert from the 1920s....well before the trade descriptions act! Thanks for that - highly amusing! RE: Interesting little film - andrew34ruby - 31-10-2023 Wonderful! What do we know about the suspension? And the reversing lever? RE: Interesting little film - Hugh Barnes - 31-10-2023 Delightful!! Really enjoyed that. Interesting how it was slanted somewhat towards the lady driver. That was something that really struck me when producing the posters for the display at Morton, how quickly Austin started targetting the woman driver, something I found really interesting reflecting, as I thought, a real change in society.. Great film. Martin, thanks for pointing it out... RE: Interesting little film - Jeff Taylor - 31-10-2023 If like me there are other life long railway / steam locomotive enthusiasts among us then another 'Watch for free' film currently available from the BFI is 'This is York' 1953 - 21 mins duration. https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-this-is-york-1953-online RE: Interesting little film - Tony Press - 31-10-2023 No good for us outside UK ![]() RE: Interesting little film - Chris KC - 01-11-2023 Sorry to hear that Tony - try the link below, I think the basic film is the same though it's a somewhat inferior copy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXa-7Kh6WN0 Or was it this one you wanted? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsbIiZ4lCo8 RE: Interesting little film - Dave Mann - 01-11-2023 Does anyone know the mechanical details of the Trojan. RE: Interesting little film - stuartu - 01-11-2023 This will give you the general sense, Dave. https://simanaitissays.com/2015/07/02/trojan-tales-galore/ Scroggs is my hero. For a broader view of Trojan's place in the motoring world, I like the Trojan chapter in Peter Hull and Nigel Arnold-Forster's "A Vintage Car Case Book". £6 inc postage buys you a copy from Amazon at present. Regards, Stuart Edited to add, Despite my admiration for the concept I have managed to resist Trojan ownership for the last half century.... RE: Interesting little film - Howard Wright - 01-11-2023 Hi All Trojan’s regularly compete in vintage trials and are a sight and noise to behold! One with solid tyres regularly attends the Light Car weekend here in Llandrindod and, I believe, this year successfully completed the 90 odd mile run over the Cambrian mountains to the sea and back. No mean feat as the roads are quite poor. Cheers Howard |
