35 Pearl color - steve62008 - 10-08-2023 looking to restore my 35 Austin Pearl. I am trying to find the paint code, mixing instructions for the color "Fawn." RE: 35 Pearl color - Archivist - 10-08-2023 Hello Steve... The Archive holds a lot of information that might help you in your quest. For instance, the 1935 Brochure https://www.archive.a7ca.org/wp-content/uploads/BR_1290.pdf shows the standard colours available in 1935 (scroll down to page 33 of the brochure) You will see 'Fawn' is not one of them. However, any colour could have been ordered by a customer for an additional payment. As far as paints are concerned, the Archive might also be able to help with the 1936 colour swatches that we hold - https://archive.a7ca.org/collections/paints-and-colours/ However, I cannot help with formulations. I am sorry. Craftmaster Paints here in the UK can supply paints based on those colour swatches but whether it is possible to send to the Us, I don't know... I hope that helps a little... RE: 35 Pearl color - Mike Costigan - 10-08-2023 It's also possible that 'Fawn' was not the original name for the colour you're looking for. The name may have been given at a later date to a faded 'Pueblo Brown', for example. RE: 35 Pearl color - John Cornforth - 10-08-2023 Hi I think it also possible that it was originally "Dove Grey", which was quite a warm brown/grey not unlike the colour of the putty used to hold glass in house windows. See: https://archive.a7ca.org/collections/paints-and-colours/item/PC0014/? If you are really lucky you may find traces of the original colour in odd corners or behind trim, which a previous repainter didn't get to. The Ruby saloon depicted on the 1936 set of Player's Cigarette Cards looks to be this colour. RE: 35 Pearl color - Pearls not a Singer - 12-08-2023 Hi Steve The best starting point is an Austin Ten Drivers club publication "Austin Colours Reference Book" I'm not sure if they still have copies as mine is some 3 or 4 years old I'm Happy to chat about this and other aspects of mk1 Pearls if you pm me RE: 35 Pearl color - Ivor Hawkins - 13-08-2023 I’m a member of the Austin Ten Drivers Club and the Austin Colours reference book is still available to members through the web site. Fawn was indeed an early Austin colour but for a ‘35 Pearl it is likely, as mentioned by John that it was originally Dove Grey (a lovely colour combination with the black top and mudguards plus the gold pinstripes). RE: 35 Pearl color - Frank Stoll - 15-08-2023 Hello, Although I concentrated on the RP, many colours can also be found here, including modern equivalents (RAL, British Standard and suppliers) RP colour schemes and combinations (PDF 60 pages) Kind regards Frank RE: 35 Pearl color - steve62008 - 15-08-2023 Thanks!
