Aluminium cylinder heads are rubbish, apparently? - Nick Lettington - 23-11-2022 I always understood that the late Ruby head was superior to the Speedex alloy one, but haven't been in a position to get a fair comparison. Can anyone cast any light on the subject. I can't think they would have been so popular if this was the case..? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JdgcpePqC4s RE: Aluminium cylinder heads are rubbish, apparently? - Alan - 23-11-2022 It’s true. However I’d qualify it by saying all other things being equal. The reason aluminium heads are around is that aluminium is a lot easier to cast than iron, so anyone wishing to mess around with combustion chamber shapes would find it a lot easier to use aluminium. So, it might not follow that an iron head always develops more power, but an iron Ulster head (say) will develop more than the same shape cast in aluminium. |
