And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - Tony Griffiths - 19-08-2022 And they keep turning up - though not quite original. For Auction RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - JonE - 19-08-2022 definite 60s revamp. If anyone finds the chassis number will they email the registrar; I've sent in the model and reg plate etc. RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - Tony Griffiths - 19-08-2022 The Auction house is preparing lots of extra pictures - possibly available next week. There are also a couple of Bond cars in the same garage, a Bug and an 875. RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - Bill Dixon - 19-08-2022 UL8812 has a V5 so that is a good point. RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - andrew34ruby - 19-08-2022 Yes it is on DVLA, last V5 issued in 1983. RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - bob46320 - 19-08-2022 love the bald tyres! RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - Howard Wright - 19-08-2022 Hi All It’s a lovely mash up. Probably simply to keep it on the road at the time. Box rad cowl, tractor lights, later advance and retard levers…..trafficators!!!, And the engine doesn’t look original, given the starting handle. Now……how many would start from scratch strip it down and rebuild to original? And how many would live with the history enjoy the patina and get it on the road? Each to his or her own I guess? Cheers Howard RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - Bob Olive - 20-08-2022 What is interesting is that this car UL 8812, and a further SEVEN Sevens currently on Fleabay are NOT on the Association Register, whilst a further three, which are listed there on, ARE on the Register. So, the question is, just how many Sevens do ACTUALLY survive? Just a thought… but impossible to know, or even guess. RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - Colin Morgan - 20-08-2022 Hi - There are statistical methods that would allow a guess of the total number of survivors to be made - similar to when a number of specimens of wildlife are captured, marked, released and then recaptured. Depending on the number of marked ones recaptured, the total number can be estimated. In this case, the selection of cars on ebay is perhaps not random - they might more often be cars put on by people without direct connections to the existing Austin Seven world as they are not being offered to club members or locally? However, from the number of cars I have seen around that don't appear on the register over the years - there could easily be double those already listed? Should anyone feels up to a statistical analysis of some sort, feel free... it would be interesting to know? Of course, some cars are 'known' but not on the register because their owners don't wish them to be. RE: And they keep turning up - a "1929" saloon. - andrew34ruby - 20-08-2022 Can anyone explain please, looking at the very first top picture on this thread there seem to be sliding door glasses, but also a window winder. Possibly the 'winder' is a handle to open the door, but if that's the case what is the drooped horizontal cord for? |
