Starter Motor M35a - k8207418 - 06-08-2022 Does the starter motor switch/assy sit on top of the band that covers the commutator/brushes or should the band have a cutout to allow the switch to fit on the starter motor body ? RE: Starter Motor M35a - David Stepney - 06-08-2022 No. It doesn't. My starter has its original brush cover and my starter switch rest on top of it. RE: Starter Motor M35a - k8207418 - 06-08-2022 Ok Thanks David RE: Starter Motor M35a - dickie65 - 08-08-2022 If you take the band off make sure you remove the switch as well. The reason is that the band has a half moon cut out which fits around the copper contact on the starter motor. If the band is fitted incorrectly it can cause a dead short when you operate the starter switch. Refit the band making sure it is not touching the copper contact then re fit the switch.
