Dynamo identification - k8207418 - 30-06-2022

Can you please help identify this Dynamo
I can’t see any numbers on it
Also what regulator would have been fitted with it
Thanks

Isn't that a 1930 sort of age? If you strip the green plasticote paint it will all be there on the top face. They seem much better built than the later Lucas ones but have some bits which are more fragile.

RE: Dynamo identification - k8207418 - 30-06-2022

I didn’t realise want to scrape the paint off to find out …

RE: Dynamo identification - JonE - 30-06-2022

DEL I think - they are all described in the green 750 club book and in the little electrical book by Hales.

Yes, that's a 1929-32 DEL dynamo, which has an internal resistor for the half-charge circuit. If you have this wired in to the standard Ruby wiring loom which is designed for the C35A and C35M dynamo, then you also have a half-charge resistor in the cut-out/fuse unit. This may be of help:

Hi All

I immediately thought DEL but the end distributor mount looks different to any of the ones I’ve got.

Cheers

Howard

Ok
Thanks all
So which Regulator/Cut out do I need
Also in the thread there is mention of a relay for when lights are on
I didn’t realise the system used relays

RE: Dynamo identification - JonE - 30-06-2022

you need an CF1 with two terminal blocks and the SM5 dash panel with a light rather than two plug holes.
pm me your email address if you want a pdf of the Hales book.

RE: Dynamo identification - k8207418 - 04-07-2022

I’ve managed to get the Dynamo off
No visible numbers on it anywhere
I’ve been advised that my engine is very late so if this is a DEL I assume it’s need retrofitted
