Whats not to like with this ebay listing - goodwoodweirdo - 20-06-2022 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234582678312?mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=e90001.m43.l1123&mkcid=8&bu=43211049508&osub=3626b74906750a8a78cf75d583a9b113%257ETE81002_T_ALL&segname=TE81002_T_ALL&crd=20220620023500&ch=osgood&trkId=0ACF35AC-28DA1AEC879-01815F2B279A-0000000000F845D1&mesgId=3024&plmtId=700001&recoId=234582678312&recoPos=1 So I'm looking for a sub 5K saloon driver / project and this comes up on ebay, a little surprised its not gone but then the wording of the paperwork is very miss leading... waiting more information from the lister, anyone else had contact or know the car..... i remember several bogus listings in the past and this seller has no previous........... listings.. cheers Matthew RE: Whats not to like with this ebay listing - Hedd_Jones - 20-06-2022 The information from the seller doesn't fit in with any of the DVLA number recovery procedures as they exist here in the UK. Fundamentally if there are old MOT documents which link the chassis number of the car to the 'claimed' number then all is necessary is for an authorised Club to sign the forms and apply. If the club he has been dealing with think it needs a MOT, he needs to change club, this is not a DVLA requirement. The likes of Watsapp, Zoom and Teams has made distance inspection of cars so much more straightforward where distances are involved also, so it really is easy as to do if all the paperwork meets the requirements. The fact it hasn't been raises a flag for me. That said, some of the car looks real nice, the engine bay is nice, no dreadfull wiring or a battery on the bulkhead etc. The front seats and door cards are fairly nicley trimmed, chrome screws and cup washers etc. The rear half, carpets and headlining (particularly) look like theyve been done (badly) by a 10year old. What is with the brass screws (assuming they are not cadmium plate pozzis!) and brass cup washers? They match real well!. There also seems to be 3 different blues and a black rear seat back?. If you want your trim all the same colour this will cost you half the purchase price to put right. The sync box, and H/C head will make it more usable than L/C and the crash box it possibly should have, same goes with the rubber mounted case. But given it also has a jewell style clutch pedal, it may have a complete 3 bearing lump in it (I cant tell from the photos), which while I agree if built well are excellent engine, but if the same bloke who fitted the doors (see below) built it, I think I'd pass. The 2 dome head phillips screws in the door hinge (with one missing) are a particularly nice feature, and perhaps a sign of the 'quality' beneath. I'd certainly like to crawl under it before I bought it. That said, its well priced for what it is. A 5k ad is really a ''Id take a bit over 4k and haggle for as much as possible'' price. RE: Whats not to like with this ebay listing - andrew34ruby - 20-06-2022 Looking on DVLA this car is registered and taxed with the number 338 XUF, so if you would be happy with that number it seems there are no complications. Yes the interior could be improved but doesn't need to cost much unless you want perfection. Better screws could be used. The various shades of blue vinyl/leather might not be too bad, or can be painted with specialist paint. The engine is a bit unknown, but isn't it always? RE: Whats not to like with this ebay listing - goodwoodweirdo - 21-06-2022 very interesting point Andrew didnt think to check the DVLA... best i give them a call ... for the other items i'm really not worried about. cheers RE: Whats not to like with this ebay listing - john williams - 21-06-2022 There are bargains on Ebay occasionally. I friend of mine has just bought a very acceptable PD tourer on Ebay for under £7K !! |
