Rear spring u bolts - Peter Sweeney - 13-06-2022 Looking at my 1938 Ruby special I realised that both rear spring U bolts are broken with the outer leg missing, as can be seen on the photo with the light shining up through the hole. My question is once having got new U bolts is it possible to fit them without having to dismantle the whole back end. Pete RE: Rear spring u bolts - Reckless Rat - 13-06-2022 Assuming that you've got the same access slot over the chassis for the other side, it should be a simple job to drop the new 'U' bolts in through the holes and then bolt them up from underneath. I would check the tightness of the spring locating bolts while you're at it (they are the ones just forward of the U bolts) and which are also tightened from underneath. RE: Rear spring u bolts - Peter Sweeney - 14-06-2022 Thanks that's what I hoped was the case 40+ years since I built it and the memory not what it was. Pete RE: Rear spring u bolts - Murdock - 15-06-2022 Where are you getting your new rear spring U bolts from? As I need some for my opal project. RE: Rear spring u bolts - Martin Prior - 16-06-2022 Murdock - I believe Ian Dunford has these in stock. RE: Rear spring u bolts - Murdock - 17-06-2022 Ahh ok! thankyou Martin! RE: Rear spring u bolts - Ian Dunford - 17-06-2022 I have new U bolts in stock. 07758 714744 01454 778021 Ian Dunford. |
