All advice gratefully received. Thanks as always and Happy Motoring RE: Travelling to Europe With A7 in trailer?? HELP - Tony Griffiths - 17-05-2022 Here's some basic information. It appears that if you are taking a road-registered car - and not a racing car - it should be straightforward. If over 3500 kg you need a carnet for the trailer and, for any trailer, Green Card insurance - the latter, presumably, in case it breaks away from your car and becomes (as it freewheels down the Alpine pass) an insurance entity in itself - though your insurer may just include this as a matter of course. https://bespokerallies.com/2021/02/new-rules-for-driving-your-transporting-and-driving-your-road-car-and-competition-car-in-europe-post-brexit/ Trailer Registration (unlikely to apply to one carrying an A7) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/trailer-registration Conclusion: it appears that a trailer under 750 kg with a road-registered car on it should just pass through. Why not phone P & O and ask the teenager manning the technical enquiry desk what the real situation is? So, I did and she said that there was no problem as far as she knew - but advised, of course, having the V5 for the car on the trailer and its green card. |
