Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Mike Costigan - 01-05-2022 Timothy P submitted this delightful photo of an early C-bodied chummy back in 2017: 54_04_11_17_8_32_30.jpeg (Size: 85.23 KB / Downloads: 519) Beaded-edge wheels suggests the car dates from late 1924; is the young lady a District Nurse about to set off on her daily round? RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Ivor Hawkins - 01-05-2022 Wonderful photograph...looking at the cottages in the background, a wild guess on the location would be East Anglia. RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Super Sports - 01-05-2022 Mike, This has got to be the period photograph of the year. Paul Cooper RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Colin Morgan - 02-05-2022 From the registration number it is more likely to be Surrey? RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Mike Costigan - 02-05-2022 'P' issues current in 1924/5 were PE (|Surrey), PM (East Sussex), PP (Buckinghamshire), PR (Dorset), PT (Durham), PU (Essex), PW (Norfolk), PX (West Suffolk) and PY (North Riding of Yorkshire) - take your pick! RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Colin Morgan - 02-05-2022 If I had to choose, without prejudice, I would say "PE". This the number stretched... Chummy Number Stretched.jpg (Size: 17.89 KB / Downloads: 164) RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - 39Jet - 03-05-2022 In Christchurch, NZ in the early years of last century, Nurse Maude ran a nursing service. A 1923 Austin Seven was gifted to her for her work. Her uniform and car were similar, though not, perhaps, the hat. The Nurse Maude organisation is very much still going - although now in Japanese hatch-backs. Her car is displayed at Ferrymead Historic Park. RE: Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - May 2022 - Colin Morgan - 03-05-2022 Further information about the New Zealand nurse's car on the A7CA site here: https://www.a7ca.org/downloads/NurseMaudesCar1923Chummy(03C13-15).pdf |
