Insurance at A7 Centenary - cwchrisp - 19-04-2022 Hi All, I renewed my A7 insurance today with RH and asked about leaving my car for two nights at the Fire Service College. Firstly, I was informed that I might need Public Liability Insurance at the site, as the standard RH policy doesnt cover this, but on further checks by the polite agent was told I would be fully covered. (The agent knew the dates of the Centenary week) I logged the dates my car would be away from home. The only extra premium I would have to pay would be required if I took part in the hill climb, an extra £65. I hope this information is useful and isnt 'old news' to you all! Steve RE: Insurance at A7 Centenary - Nick Salmon - 19-04-2022 There is no reason I can think of why your normal insurance policy would not cover you for attending the Austin Seven Centenary Event. However, in order to avoid speculation and mis-communications, I am going to email Emma Airey at RH now about this and will post the definitive response when I get it. Emma is always very good at dealing with things quickly so I should have something very soon. RE: Insurance at A7 Centenary - Hedd_Jones - 19-04-2022 Steves advice is spot on, check with your insurer for definitive advice, whoever that may be. An RTA policy generally covers as a minimum use on the highway or any other place where the public has access. Beyond that its for negotiation and policy specific. I've a number of other vintage vehicles covered by PL. I regularly attend events not on the highway and not open to the public and therefore not covered by the standard RTA cover. I have 5million cover for such events. Similarly my RTA cover doesnt cover me for setting fire to the countryside with my traction engine, nor for putting black smutts on a hookers blouse as I go passed on the same machine. Or like last weekend when my bucket fell off, that was a potential PL claim. RE: Insurance at A7 Centenary - cwchrisp - 20-04-2022 Hi, Thank you Nick for your reply regarding RH insurance clarity. A very big thank you for all your hard work organising this marvelous event. The reason I asked my original question to RH was because of the following clause in my policy: "896 - Theft limitation We will not pay any theft claim under Section 2 - Loss of or damage to your vehicle - of this document for loss or damage occurring between the hours of 10p.m. and 6a.m. unless your vehicle is in a locked private garage when it is parked at or in the proximity of: a. your private dwelling place, or b. any other address where the vehicle is normally garaged, which has been specifically agreed by us." I wasn't sure whether this clause also applied to my car being parked overnight not in the proximity of a) and b), especially as my RM saloon has no locks on the doors! The PL issue was raised seperately by RH but was resolved. I did mention to the agent that RH is a sponsor or the event which prompted him to check if I needed any seperate cover. Best Regards Chris RE: Insurance at A7 Centenary - RH Insurance - 20-04-2022 Hi Everyone, Section 1 of RH's motor insurance policy wording does indeed make provision for 'liability to others'. For example, if the insured's actions had led to someone tripping over their stationary vehicle whilst attending an event. However, we don't provide public liability cover – and this approach is standard throughout the motor insurance industry. The event organisers should have this type of cover in place themselves.
